JLA is currently the historic preservation consultant for the rehabilitation of this 1920’s double leaf, double deck, trunnion-style bascule bridge over the Chicago River. The bridge is in need of extensive repairs and the project has become an opportunity to restore lost or damaged historic elements of the structure and bridge houses. JLA is working closely with a large engineering team and design architects to guide preservation and restoration of these key elements in order to recapture the structure’s historic character.
