Ragdale House Restoration
Lake Forest, Illinois
JLA has worked closely with the Ragdale Foundation for over a decade to preserve, restore, and adapt this historic Howard Van Doren Shaw property that is currently used as the foundation’s headquarters and artists retreat. Soon after the property was donated to the foundation, JLA conducted a survey and study of the interior finishes of the main house. Several years later, JLA prepared a full historic structures report for the property including condition assessment, treatment recommendations, and cost estimate. Currently, JLA is continuing their service to the organization by overseeing the restoration and reuse of Shaw's home that will address life safety issues, adapt to modern functional and mechanical needs, and conserve energy.
