Saint Johns Episcopal Church Reconstruction
Quincy, Illinois
In 2002, a lightning-induced fire gutted this 1860’s Episcopal church and its contents. JLA was employed to reconstruct and renovate the church to reflect its historic character and tradition of the liturgy while accommodating additional programming and increasing energy efficiency. JLA and local A/E consultants reconstructed the exterior envelope and designed new mechanical and electrical systems. These included a new open truss roof design with improved acoustics, custom-designed lighting fixtures and a geothermal heating system. JLA guided the restoration, replication, and compatible new design furnishings and finishes.
