Headed by Walker Johnson, the reconstruction of Foellinger Auditorium in 1992 led to JLA’s enduring service as Historic Preservation architects to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Rehabilitation of the campus centerpiece included construction of the uncompleted south end, design of a grand terraced entryway, and a retuning of the building’s originally poor acoustics. More recently, JLA’s work on Foellinger has continued with the design of a historically sensitive snow guard system for the iconic dome.
