JLA led a team of engineers, cost estimators, and historians in the production of Building Preservation Plans (BPPs) for three S. State St. properties that contribute to the Loop Retail National Register Historic District. Similar to historic structures reports (HSRs), these Federally contracted documents serve to record and evaluate current building conditions, assess historic integrity, and state recommendations for future work. For each property, the entire building was surveyed in order to create updated floor plans and identify historically significant elements and areas. A detailed analysis of the existing materials & conditions led to designation of preservation zones within each building and corresponding detailed recommendations. Guidance also included schematic master planning for the building sites and the surrounding area.
