Abbott House Restoration & Museum
Chicago, Illinois

JLA served as historic consultants for the replication of this 1891 Ravenswood mansion rebuilt in North Chicago, Illinois. Initially, three options were considered: restoration of the existing house at its current site, moving the house to a new site for restoration, and replication of the house on a new site. In order to evaluate these scenarios, a feasibility study was conducted, complete with historic investigation of the house and landscape, condition assessment, and cost analysis. Eventually, the last option was selected and a scale reproduction of the entire property was created. This included complete recreation of interior detailing and finishes to match the original and adaptation of the house to a museum and conference center.
