After conducting a feasibility study for the reconstruction of the roof and exterior staircase of the oldest building on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana-Champaign, Walker Johnson and the JLA team were hired as historic consulting architects to carry out the restoration. Among lesser historic elements, JLA detailed the missing slate mansard roof and the limestone entry staircase based upon historic photographs and research. These were included in the restoration project.
