Representative Projects

Loyola Press, Chicago, Illinois
Expansion of the Loyola Press editorial and creative departments involved conversion of an existing warehouse into premium office and meeting space and the renovation of existing adjacent office spaces. The $850,000 project integrated three different structural and mechanical systems. Planning allowed for future expansion of work space.

Marquette Building, Chicago, Illinois
JLA has been providing design and preservation services for this historic 1895 landmark for 20 years, from restoration of the terra cotta facade to interior renovations and building systems upgrades. Work with building management included updating older systems and adding sprinklers to meet modern codes. This was one of the first buildings in Chicago to comply with the City’s requirement for fire suppression within an existing
building.

Offices of Ancel Glink, Chicago, Illiniois
Located in the Marquette Building, this 50-person law office required space planning, millwork, stone and lighting design for a remodeling of the conference room and adjacent entry. Mechanical systems were upgraded and adjacent offices reconfigured.

Antonini Residence, Chicago, Illinois
This mid-century, architecturally significant residence was designed by Edward Dart in 1959. Constructed mainly of Chicago common brick, its distinctive brick piers and exposed concrete slabs had deteriorated. JLA completed a condition assessment with recommendations, and generated construction documents for restoration and reconstruction. Tax incentives for historic preservation were utilized for funding.

Prairie Crossing, Grayslake, Illinois
JLA provided planning and preservation services during the development and construction phases of this unique 650-acre conservation community, which incorporates existing historic architecture and landscape features. Historic structures were measured and photographed prior to being moved to the new site. Numerous design studies of the Market Square section were executed and designs generated for an equestrian barn, a day care center, and an energy and power plant for a pumping station.
